Eugene Naughton
M.S., NC, LCMHC, CSAT, NCC
I received my Masters of Science degree in Counseling and Counseling Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2011 and have worked as a professional counselor since that time. Prior to that, I worked as an attorney. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the State of North Carolina (LCMHC #8944) and a National Certified Counselor. I am also a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (certified through the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals), and I am a member of the International OCD Foundation. I work with individuals primarily, and I will sometimes work with couples on a case by case basis.
All therapies and techniques I use in counseling are evidence-based and well-established. I work with clients from a strengths-based approach. My approaches to counseling are rooted in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Existential Therapy, Emotion-Focused Individual Therapy, and the Task Model for treatment of addiction). For OCD work, I use a combination of Cognitive and Acceptance models, as well as the SPACE model (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions).
My areas of focus are:
- · Sex Addiction and Problematic Sexual Behavior
- · Anxiety Disorders with a focus on Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and Panic Disorder
- · Parent Education for Anxious children
- · Mood Disorders (Depression, Bipolar Disorder)
- · Life Transitions
- · Trauma
These are typical areas of focus for me, but I am happy to see if I can help you with other matters.
